IRONMAN Canada is coming to Whistler and Pemberton this August. This amazing test of endurance, strength and heart is one of the sternest physical tests one can but their body through. Athletes competing in these events around the world train up to a year in advance to be ready for the physical toll.
This marks the first time Whistler and Pemberton have ever held the event. The Sea to Sky will be on full display for the world when IRONMAN Canada makes it's debut here.
The 2013 IRONMAN Canada Course
The course will begin in Whistler when athletes complete two loops of Alta Lake. From here athletes will transition to the bike for a one loop course that stretches from the Callaghan Valley to the Upper Meadows of Pemberton. Athletes will finish the race by completing two loops of the Valley Trail, winding past Lost Lake and Green Lake in Whistler before they make triumphant finish at Whistler's Olympic Plaza.
Pemberton Cheer Section
During the bike portion of the race athletes will be making their way through the Village of Pemberton. Riders will make their way up the Pemberton Valley until they reach a check point at which time they will turn around and ride back to Whistler. During this portion of the race people are encouraged to come out and cheer on these amazing athletes. Pemberton will serve as the half way point of the race so athletes will need our encouragement to get them to the finish line.
The PEMBERTON CHEER SECTION will be held at the entrance to Pemberton on Highway 99 near the Pemberton Visitor Centre. There will be food, entertainment, sidewalk sales and more! So be sure to join us in Pemberton for a great IRONMAN Canada viewing experience!
