SLOW FOOD CYCLE SUNDAY GIVES BACK
Tourism Pemberton, producers of the Slow Food Cycle Sunday, will be donating funds to the Pemberton Secondary School Garden Program.
Partial proceeds from the 2017 Slow Food Cycle Sunday event were earmarked for donation to a community group and/or program with roots in agriculture and farming.
"It's important to continue to promote local growers and the sustainability of growing/eating local, the slow food movement and agritourism in the area," explained Mark Mendonca, Tourism Pemberton President.
"We believe in what the Pemberton Secondary School Garden Program is doing and are happy to help with the cost of some of the garden repairs and re-building they have planned for 2018," Mendonca continued.
The Pemberton Secondary School Garden provides organic produce for the school’s food classes as well as for local businesses around town.
The program also educates students on correct farming techniques including seeding, maintenance and harvest. Students also assist with building the greenhouse and plant boxes to gain work experience in carpentry.
A cheque presentation will be organized for Thursday, December 7 at 10:00am at the Pemberton Secondary School.
