Paddle Board 1

It seems like every time you hit the lake these days you see paddle boarders cruising around.
Stand up paddle boarding is a great way to have fun, stay fit and stay dry.

Paddle Barn

Pemberton's most active paddle boarding spot has to be One Mile Lake located just a minute drive outside of town.

One Mile Lake is home to Paddle Barn Stand Up Paddle Boards. The company offers daily paddle board rentals, bike rentals and stand up paddleboard yoga classes.

While yoga classes are scheduled daily paddle board rental can be done anytime from 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Paddle board rentals cost $20 an hour and include board, paddle and life jacket.

If you've never paddle boarded before the owners Laura and Mike Zgud will give you a quick overview of the best techniques and board balance point. Paddleboarding can be picked up fairly quickly with some instruction. The activity is a great way to cruise the lake, enjoy the views and blow off some steam while improving your fitness. The activity requires you to engage your core and abdominal muscles plus requires back and arm strength. Many people use the activity as a way to get a quick workout. Others view it as a calming experience, allowing you to escape into the lake and lose yourself in the surrounding Pemberton scenery.

The Paddle Barn also offers bike rentals and daily stand up yoga classes. Rent a brand new Norco Storm Hardtail bike. These bikes are great for mountain biking or just cruising around town. One Mile Lake is the starting point for a number of mountain bike trails in the area, allowing you to rent a bike and go! Bikes can be rented hourly at $20 per hour.

SUP yoga classes are currently offered 6 days a week every day but Sunday. The idea behind SUP yoga is essentially practicing yoga on your paddleboard in the middle of the lake. The purpose of this class is to add another element of balance into the yoga equation. Participants must really engage their core & find their balance point to perform yoga positions on the board. This really turns the yoga class into a workout / yoga session. Check out the current SUP yoga schedule below.
