Looking for something to do on your next trip to Pemberton... Why not check out the Pemberton Distillery home to the award winning Schramm Vodka line.
The Pemberton Distillery opened its doors in August 2009 with the launch if it's organic vodka line. Within one year the vodka had been awarded the double gold award and spirit of the year award at the 2010 World Spirit Awards. Since then the Schramm Vodka line has gone on to win several more awards and has received universal acclaim from critics.
While the vodka line still remains the most popular Schramm product several other spirits have been added to the Pemberton Distillery line-up including gin, whiskey, brandy, absinthe and schnapps.
What makes these products so high quality is the ingredients that can be found in the distillery's backyard. All of the spirits main ingredients can be found within B.C with the majority of the ingredients coming from right down the road in Pemberton. In the case of the Schramm Vodka line the main ingredients are potatoes and fresh water. A local farming family called Across the Creek Organics provide the potatoes needed for almost all the Schramm products while the pristine glacial streams located throughout the community provide the pure water needed to distill the various spirits. The Pemberton Distillery takes pride in using 100% BC agricultural products and following an all natural fermentation process without the use of chemicals or additives.
During the summer the Pemberton Distillery is open Thursday to Saturday from 12PM to 6PM. The distillery offers tastings anytime during retail shop hours.
The only day available to take a tour of the distillery is on Saturday’s beginning at 4PM. The tour is generally led by master brewer Tyler Schramm. Tyler has his Masters of Science in Brewing & Distilling from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to distilling. The tour generally takes about 30 minutes and outlines the distilling process of whatever's currently in stock. The tour costs $6 and includes a tasting of the products at the end.
