Nimby Fifty 250Pemberton's premier mountain bike Race the Nimby Fifty is set to take place this Saturday, May 31. Since it's inception in 2010 the Nimby Fifty has grown into one of the biggest and most recognized mountain bike races in B.C.

During the race participants will complete a 37KM course consisting almost entirely of single-track mountain bike trails carved out of the Pemberton mountain and countryside. Riders must negotiate hard climbs and epic downhill portions - at the lowest point of the race riders find themselves 200 meters above sea level, at the highest point riders will reach 800 meters above sea level. For a complete read up on each portion of the course click here.

This race is geared towards intermediate riders and above so make sure to come into the race in shape! There are a total of twenty two registration categories including a Pro/elite category, and 10 different age and gender divisions. Over the year's the Pro/Elite category has attracted some of the biggest names in the sport from BC and abroad. Riders in this category have extra incentive as they will be competing for a cash prize pool of $1400.

However you don't have to be a pro to score some cool swag from this event. Following the race there will be a number of FREE draw prizes up for grabs from event sponsors Redbull, Chromag, Different Bikes, Stead Cycles, Oakley, Pemberton Bike Co, Bozeale and many more.

Some say that once the race is done the real fun begins. Following the race event volunteers, organizers and riders hit up a dinner and after party held at North Arm Farm (start/finish area). The dinner consists of an amazing organic BBQ buffet, along with alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. After dinner the awards ceremony takes place where category winners are announced and draw prizes are handed out. The event concludes with the always fun and exciting Nimby Fifty After Party. Riders will get the chance to hang out and socialize with other competitors all while listening to some great local bands while swilling on their favorite beverages by the bon fire.
