Snow Never Made Pemberton Happier
Pemberton has seen big snow years, years where there's little to no snow, cold years and warmer years. This year, 2014, has been, well, odd. No one is complaining, mind you, but it feels a bit like a roller coaster. We started off ready for a big snow year, took out the skis, got the snowmobile ready, waxed things, sharpened skates, etc.
And then there was a cold snap. A real cold, cold snap. Okay. We got ready for ice fishing, skates were ready so we donned them, and off we went. Happy with a cold winter, we changed gears a bit and took to the icy cold sports.
Changing gears seemed to be an apt metaphor, because as soon as we got used to the cold icy stuff, it melted and warmed up so much that the Bike Co announced trails were open, birds were singing in the trees, and there was a chance that we'd be mountain biking all year long. Really.
And that was a couple weeks ago. Now, as of mid-February, we are ready for the snow. Real deep powder, of the kind you dream about in the best winters. Our neighbour, Whistler, recently got over 120 cm in the last 7 days. It just keeps snowing, and it looks like it's going to continue for the next little while.
Backcountry Touring, Snowmobiling, Skiing...
It's time! The Gateway to Adventure is open for business, as it were. Luckily, in Pemberton we don't miss a beat, so no one stopped even for a second this winter. We just changed out our gear.
But now, you can visit us and get ready for some of that incredible powder that makes us smile. Snowmobile out to the Pemberton Ice Cap and see what all the fuss is about in the Pemberton Ice Caves. Take a cross country ski on the Sea to Sky trails. Tour a bit in the backcountry.
We're Ready for You
Tourism Pemberton is ready to welcome you to our Village and treat you to the kind of winter we all dream about. Big fluffy flakes of snow falling on fields, trails ready for your cross country skis, snowmobile operators ready to take you on a tour of the backcountry. It's all here. Come visit and find out why Pemberton truly is the Gateway to Adventure.
