Pemberton recently received some attention after being selected for a notable accolade by a prominent Alberta business magazine.
Among the 25 Best Communities in Western Canada
Pemberton was named one of the 25 Best Communities for Business in Western Canada by Alberta Venture in the publication’s June issue — one of just four municipalities in B.C. that were selected to the list.
In the Top 4 Best Communities for Tourism
Additionally, Pemberton was one of four on a short list naming the Best Communities for Tourism and the only one in B.C.
Tourism Pemberton co-chair Donna Hasan said it’s encouraging to see the community receive some exposure outside of B.C. and be touted as an ideal tourist stop. “Tourism Pemberton has been working hard the last few years to (promote) Pemberton as a destination for tourism, so we’re naturally thrilled that we’ve got this recognition from outside the community,” said Hasan. “More and more, as we work at this, people are discovering the natural beauty of the Pemberton Valley and all the adventure we’ve got going on here.”
Hasan said data collected at the Pemberton Visitor Centre shows that Albertans have consistently ranked in the top five groups coming to the Spud Valley by visitor origin. Hasan said domestic markets elsewhere in the province are among those Tourism Pemberton would like to target, so being placed on the Venture Alberta list is a nice bonus. “We are seeing more Canadians traveling across the province, particularly from Alberta, so that’s a market we’d like to get our information out to,” she said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do to get the word out to these markets and it’s an ongoing job for us.”
