The Pemberton Ice Cap
On a clear, bright winter's day there's no better place to experience the luster of the mountains than the Pemberton Ice Cap. Consisting of a number of connected glaciers, the majority of the Ice Cap's more than 380 sq. kilometres (150 sq. miles) is above the alpine, affording treeless vistas and plenty of places to throw open the throttle and let it rip. Accessed by a staging area near Rutherford Creek Bridge just south of Pemberton, it's a moderate 16-kilometre (10-mile) climb to the alpine.
The Pemberton Valley and surrounding mountains are etches with Forest Service logging roads that make journeying to neighbouring communities, such as Lillooet and Bralorne, possible.
