Pemberton BC may be famous for its agricultural heritage but it also has a great abundance of art and culture.
Pemberton Arts Council
The not-for-profit Pemberton Arts Council began in 2006 with the goal of promoting and growing the art culture in their community. They have a mission to inspire and assist local artists offering them opportunities that may otherwise not exist.
Whether you are an artist in the Pemberton community or if you are a community member interested in supporting local arts, there is something for you in the art world of Pemberton BC.
If you or someone you know is a painter, sculptor, photographer, printmaker or a mixed media artisan be sure to apply for the Visual Art Award Of Excellence. There will be two awards for $1,000 each: one going to an emerging visual artist and the other going to a professional visual artist. Both winners will also have their art exhibited in Whistler. The awards are available to all artists from Squamish to Mt.Currie and all communities in between. The deadline for application is October 25, 2010.
Music Art Dance Expression (MADE)
MADE is an annual community event taking place this year on Saturday, November 27th 2010. Standing for Music Art Dance Expression, MADE encourages you to take part in this funky evening of art and culture. If you are an artist of any sort be sure to check out the meeting at the Pemberton Community Centre on September 30th at 7pm and find out how you can be involved.
