Every Level of Adventure: Skiing and Snowboarding in Pemberton

Even without a lift-serviced ski area, Pemberton delivers a wealth of skiing and riding options for the adventurous. Hailed by The New York Times as the sled-skiing epicenter of the world, Pemberton offers a broadly diverse array of exquisite options for sliding across the snow. Cross-country classic and skate skiers can choose between the new track set on the snow-covered fairways at The Meadows at Pemberton and the well-maintained, by-donation track set on private land amidst Pemberton’s expansive, scenic farmlands. Aficionados of randonnée (wilderness ski touring) have a wealth of local choices for both single-day powder excursions and multi-day trips to Pemberton’s backcountry huts. And while choices for sled-skiing (driving oneself to pristine wilderness slopes on a snowmobile) are abundant, this isn’t the only motorized way to go. Local snowcat and helicopter ski and snowboard operators offer adventure options that range from motorized “assists” (for those who wish to guide themselves) to fully-guided, multi-day wilderness powder skiing and snowboarding experiences. In Pemberton, this entire array of skiing and snowboarding is close at hand.
